A sturdy workbench is a necessity for doing efficient shop work. Having effective storage underneath it is a luxury. The design of my primary workbench is based off of the design presented in "Uncle" Dave Gingery's Shop Notebook. For the top I used two thicknesses of 3/4" MDF. The top is made from two pieces with the seam in the center. The bottom is made from three pieces with the seams offset from the top. This prevents there from being a weak point at the seams. I also left out the front spacers between the drawers since this allowed slightly more content to be installed in each drawer.
